Market definition and exploration

We set the relevant target market and document scope. Primary data, databases and analysis tools stay usable for the sourcing team.

Competitor analysis

We identify and assess the three to five most relevant competitors, including budget. Competitor matrices show positioning, strengths and weaknesses.

Regulatory framework

GxP procurement is governed by Chapter 5 of the EU GMP Guide (EudraLex Vol. 4): suppliers of critical materials and services must be assessed before award, and the assessment must be documented. Market research provides the data for that assessment, and GAMP 5 requires the same rationale for software suppliers.

Selection process and evidence
